What does Success of Outsourcing Nearshore services look like

The Client VOTI Detection is a Canadian based company and industry leader in the development and modernization of the latest generation of conventional x-ray security screening scanners utilizing 3D perspective technology.

The Challenge for the client was to transform the traditional world of hardware intense x-ray screening into the new age. They wanted to leverage new software technologies to enhance their current hardware centric product roadmap. The end product was to be a solution and application, modeled as cloud service, “Security Screening as a Service (SSaaS).” It was very difficult to hire local resources with the required skills, maintain the budget, and schedule to meet their requirements. Time-to-market, cost, quality and risk implementation were the key metrics to drive the project.

The Solution was to partner/collaborate with Intech Americas to staff the project, work full time, nearshore (from Mexico) and local (Montreal, Canada) to meet the requirements. Intech Americas “Time and Materials Co-Management model” was used as a basis for the implementation. The model provided a framework for ensuring the quality, control, adaptability and predictability to our client during the execution of the project and service, by promoting the continuous improvement that allows Intech Americas to achieve the highest standards in Quality and customer satisfaction.

The team was composed of 1 software architect, 2 front end developers, 1 back end developer, 2 software function testers, 1 UX/UI designer and 1 project manager.

The Successful Resultenabled the rapid product and software development of a high quality SSaaS product and application named “VotiINSIGHTSTM” while meeting the project metrics of reducing costs by 25%, meeting the TTM objective utilizing agile methodologies, DevOps and cloud provisioning. VotiINSIGHTS is a web-based platform for the centralized and remote management of Voti Detections XR3D scanners. The platform and application provide x-ray security fleet managers with up to the minute information about their scanners fleet’s health and operation status, giving users the ability to improve operational efficiencies, decrease machine downtime, saving time and money.

Our project implementation facilitated the project set-up in a shorter time, with the flexibility required by our client’s needs, a single collaborative extension of the client’s development team. In no time, we become part of their business value chain. This enabled them to focus on operations and align them to their business, delegating most of the worrisome tasks to Intech Americas, without worrying about performance, or the quality being delivered.
